Jurassic Park star Sam Neill announced he is cancer-free following a five-year battle with stage-three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
The 76-year-old actor told Australian network 7News that chemotherapy initially kept him alive but eventually stopped working. “I was at a loss and it looked like I was on the way out, which wasn’t ideal obviously,” Neill said.
He underwent CAR T-cell therapy, a cutting-edge treatment that genetically modifies blood cells. “I’ve just had a scan just now and there is no cancer in my body, that’s an extraordinary thing,” he stated.
Neill, who reprised his role as Alan Grant in 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, now advocates for expanding CAR T-cell therapy access in Australia, where it’s currently limited to clinical trials.
The actor plans to return to filmmaking, saying “It’s time I did another movie.”
