DESCRIPTION:The North Country Children’s Museum invites children in grades 1–5 to explore\, create\, and experiment this summer during eight weeks of STEAM-filled summer camps. Each week features a different theme designed to spark curiosity and creativity through hands-on activities\, play time in the museum exhibits\, and outdoor play. \nCamp sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $225 per camper per week\, with a 10 percent discount for museum members. \nWeekly camp themes include:\nJuly 6–10: K-Pop Demon Hunters Theater Camp\nJuly 13–17: Zombie Survival Science Camp\nJuly 20–24: YouTuber Camp\nJuly 27–31: Rockets\, Explosions\, and Drones\nAugust 3–7: Art and Technology Camp\nAugust 10–14: Gross-ology Science Camp\nAugust 17–21: NCCM’s Got Talent\nAugust 24–28: Animal Planet \nA limited number of scholarship spaces are offered each week for $25 per camper. DESCRIPTION:Saturday July 11th at 3 p.m. North Country historian and author James E. Reagen will talk about the Revolutionary War in St. Lawrence County at the Hepburn Library in Waddington N.Y.\nReagen is the author of “Fort Oswegatchie” which tells the role of the Revolutionary War in Northern New York. He is also the author of “Booze\, Badboys & Bootleggers – North Country Tales Grandpa Never Told You”. “Warriors of La Presentation” A History of the North Country’s Role in the French and Indian War. His newest book is ‘Hookers\, Heroes and Hoodlums’ which features 33 true stories from the region’s forgotten past.\nReagen was the award-winning managing editor of the Ogdensburg Journal and Advance News for 30 years where he wrote about life in the North Country. He helped found the War of 1812 annual Battle of Ogdensburg in February and was a charter member of the Fort la Presentation Association and the Ogdensburg Historic Commission. He is one of the founders and current vice president of the Ogdensburg History Museum. James worked with the OFA Key Club for over 30 years as its advisor and was honored with New York State’s Key of Honor for his service to Ogdensburg’s young people.\nIn 2011\, he went to work for New York State Senator Patty Ritchie and in 2019\, he was elected to the St. Lawrence County Legislature to represent Ogdensburg.He and his wife Donna own and operate the Sherman Inn\, a historic bed and breakfast.\nWhy did George Washington send two spy missions to present-day Ogdensburg during the Revolutionary War? Why did Thomas Jefferson condemn the commander of Fort Oswegatchie (at present-day Ogdensburg). Why did the British consider the commander of Fort Oswegatchie a hero?\nCome to the presentation at the library to learn the answer to these questions.
