This live animal program is a rare chance for children to get up close with real working dogs and learn about their lives on the Alaskan trail. \nLawson will share her firsthand adventures dog sledding along the Yukon River\, giving visitors an inside look at the life of a musher and the remarkable relationships they build with their dogs. Visitors will also learn about sled dog adoption and how retired racing dogs find their forever homes. \nThis special family program is included with the cost of membership and admission. Signed copies of Lawson’s children’s books will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the book sales support the dog’s adoptions. DESCRIPTION:The Cranberry Lake Boat Club will be hosting their 17th annual Firecracker Race/Walk on July 4 starting at the Cranberry Lake Boat Launch at 9 a.m. Races will include a 5K and 10K Run\, 5K Walk\, and 1 Mile Fun Walk. This is a non-sanctioned race down Columbian Road\, where there is little to no traffic. Day of registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Long Term Parking Lot for the Cranberry Lake Boat Launch. Registration includes a T-shirt and registration is encouraged. Raceday registration costs $30 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under.
